About Bumpkis

Are you tired of digging through all of the garbage on YouTube trying to find the really good videos that you’ve heard people talking about? Like most media channels, YouTube is has some amazing content that gets completely lost amid the clutter, so the purpose of this site is to help us share some of our favorites… videos that we think you might enjoy too.

Everyone has different tastes and so we can’t say for sure that you will appreciate everything here, but we are building this site around the videos that have made our family and friends laugh and cry, videos that have inspired and amazed us, and the videos we think are the gems among junk.

We try to not include videos that we think are crude or offensive, but your criteria for that may be different than ours. We cannot say that everything on our site would be appropriate or enjoyable for every age group, but overall it is relatively clean entertainment. I am sorry to say that YouTube does not allow us to disable the link to their site, so if you or your kids double-clicks a video, you will be taken to the YouTube site which has an abundance of disgusting content, some of which is inappropriate for human consumption.

Please add your ratings, comments and suggestions. But remember, this is OUR site, so if we don’t like your comments or suggestions, we won’t publish it. But if you find yourself enjoying a lot of the videos we suggest on this site, then we will probably enjoy some videos you suggest to us and would love to include them.

How did we come up with the name Bumpkis? Well, one of our favorite TV shows is “The Dick Van Dyke Show”, and there was an epsiode called “Bumkis”. I thought it would be a great domain name and as I often do, I went and purchased it figuring some day I would come up with something fun to do with it.

I did use the spelling with a ‘p’ included and only recently realized they did not include the ‘p’ in the title of the episode. Anyway, it kind of reminded me of one of my other favorite shows, “Seinfeld”, since bumpkis means “nothing” and Seinfeld was “a show about nothing”. In a way, this is “a site about nothing”, or at least “a site about nothing in particular”.
